Are you and your team working from home in the post-Covid era? Here’s our helpful tips for managing the mental health and wellbeing of your flexi-workers and remote teams.
Managing mental health whilst home
- Have enough rest between periods of work
- Eat Healthy, fresh food where you can
- Go for a walk, run or cycle in the fresh air!
- Stay in contact with Family and Friends – don’t lock yourself away
- Avoid too much alcohol or smoking
- Be mindful of your children’s reaction to the situation – you may want to “get on and do something” but taking time out to be with them will help you in the long run
- Or your parent’s reaction if you’re are carer
- Maintain home and business routines, if possible
- Use technology for meetings/family contact – you’ll feel less isolated
- Feeling anxious? Switch off the media – do something you love instead…read, listen to some music and breathe!
- Feeling lonely? Make yourself a coffee, pick up the phone, have a chat with a friend or Skype call them instead, take a break – don’t give yourself a hard time!
Keep Safe and Well Everyone!
Ripple HR Managing Remote Working
- Make time to call our team members daily and set up frequent team calls
- Give them the chance to tell you about their challenges and how they are feeling
- Do the “small talk” not just the “work talk”
- Use online meetings to see each other – facial expressions can give you clues – who might need a little more of your time?
- Tell them the best way to contact you – especially if it’s urgent
- Create some fun meetings for socialising not just business, creating a positive atmosphere
- Acknowledge their feelings, recognise and empathise
- Ask them to share positive actions which are helping them cope
- Provide assurances, be positive, encourage and explore experiences to help them focus on being positive
- Don’t exclude the negatives – explore those too and potential mitigating actions
- Acknowledge their stress or anxiety and reaffirm your confidence in them.
